The new aw Nike ACG collection didn’t just change the rules of the way outdoors performance gear was designed, it changed the very idea of who outdoors gear was “supposed” to be for. The introduction of the contemporary, stylish, boldly innovative aesthetic that vaulted Nike to the forefront of the sportswear industry, beyond looking good, was meant to entice denizens of treadmills, stationary bikes, manicured cul-de-sacs, aerobics studios and any other cliché markers of anodyne, 1980s yuppie fitness culture into the great outdoors.

All that tech was put there to be rained on, snowed on, tramped through and covered in dirt and mud, and generally withstand whatever else, Ice? Sap?
